Changing Lives of Families for 15 Years

April 19, 2013

The past 15 years have been nothing short of an unforgettable experience filled with great clients and innovation at the firm. Each time I reflect on my years of service, I think back to the year I started as a four year associate in the firm’s Litigation practice and the opportunity I later had to start and develop the firm’s Family & Marital Law practice, which has grown into the full-service practice it is today.

Much like a cohesive family, a successful group of lawyers must work as a team to achieve a common goal, as well as to help each other succeed and reach their potentials. This characteristic of our Family Law group is the one that I’m most proud of; we work together as a family in order to change the lives of families. It goes without saying that our successes have been attributed to the fact that we strive for excellence and practice what we preach.

A lot has happened in the past fifteen years. I married David, had two children (Jessica and Dylan), and ran in multiple marathons and sprint triathlons. I was also very involved in the legal community by serving in several positions such as President of the Central Florida Association of Women Lawyers and on the Executive Committee of the Orange County Bar as well as many positions in the Orlando community at large. I taught legal courses at Stetson, University of Central Florida, Barry University and Emory while practicing law and serving as a mediator certified by the Florida Supreme Court. At the same time, our group continued to grow and strengthen both with our litigation experience and our alternative dispute resolution alternatives. We continued to become even more experienced in dealing with an array of family law issues involving contact schedules and time-sharing (previously known as “custody”), parenting plans and assessments, alimony, equitable divisions of our clients assets and debts, and even parental relocation with minor children. Over the years, we have advocated for our clients in international relocation disputes, and recently, helped a client win the right to relocate to the United Kingdom with her two children after a five-day trial. In 2010, I was also a member of the legal team that represented Elin Nordegren in her divorce with Tiger Woods.

These successes would not have been possible without my Family Law team and my firm, who has been behind me each step of the way. Our group has succeeded in making me better, and I could only hope that I have done the same for them. Today, our group has a total of eleven practicing members, all of whom have been an integral part in achieving successes for our firm and continue to move us forward in the right direction. I am incredibly thankful for each of them, my firm and my tremendous clients.

Here’s to the past 15 years in the profession, I look forward to many more to come!
