John B. Dorris
John B. Dorris is an attorney, mediator, and arbitrator with nearly fifteen years of legal experience. He specializes in corporate law, debtor/creditor issues, bankruptcy, executive leadership, commercial contracts, and family law assisting clients across a broad spectrum of industries and backgrounds.
Communication, empathy, and critical thinking are key qualities he incorporates into his legal practice. John values building meaningful relationships with clients, assessing their needs, and determining innovative solutions that meet their desired outcomes. As a former teacher his approach is often first ensure the client understands the big and little picture to see the path to a healthy resolution.
Before becoming an attorney, John worked as an HIV Health Educator teaching at-risk groups to reduce infection rates and conduct confidential testing as well as conducted trainings for mental health professionals on topics such as diversity and inclusion, LGBTQ issues in domestic violence, and cultural sensitivity. He also taught legal studies for a private University in Orlando as well as trained to become a Florida Supreme Court certified Family Mediator.
John is also very active in the local LGBTQ community as a member of the Orange Blossom Bowling Association as well as the Orlando OUT Sports League where he participates or captains teams in dodgeball, kickball, volleyball, and soccer. John also created and manages a softball team in the Central Florida Softball League where he actively recruits individuals with or without disabilities to engage and enjoy sports to help them overcome their perceived limitations and was even featured in the local news. John earned his J.D. from Florida State University College of Law, his Doctorate in Political Science from the University of Houston, and his Masters’s from Central Michigan University.
