On December 17, 2014, Circuit Judge Dale Cohen granted a same-sex couples’ divorce in Broward County, Florida. This marks the first divorce of a same-sex couple in Florida. The couple united in a civil union in 2002 in Vermont and although their relationship ended five years ago, until today, the couple was unable to obtain a divorce in Florida. It is expected that the Attorney General will appeal the decision.
