If you are in a domestic partnership relationship, and one of you dies, maybe your intent is for them to have everything. That will probably not happen unless you take additional legal steps.”

“If you’re in a domestic partnership, think of all the other ramifications,” warns Rebecca.  “If you have ever been in a situation where you had to make a medical decision, or you’ve been in a situation where you wanted to…those are two very difficult places. And you want to ensure those decisions are made way ahead of time. But you don’t want to be in a position without authority. In the medical world, you must have an advocate, somebody you trust to make really tough decisions.”
